
Application Requirements
The Internal Medicine/Pediatrics residency at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston is dedicated to improving the health and welfare of all children, adolescents and adults.
General
Our six positions are filled through the National Residency Matching Program. Applicants to our program must be registered through the NRMP and are required to use the Electronic Residency Application Service. The requirements for application:
- 1. Curriculum vitae (generated by ERAS)
- 2. Personal Statement
- 3. Medical Student Performance Evaluation (Dean's Letter)
- 4. USMLE Steps 1 & 2 scores; Step 1 is required at the time of interview. Step 2 is required prior to an intern's official start date.
- 5. Letter from the Chair of the Department of Medicine, or designee
- 6. Letter from the Chair of the Department of Pediatrics, or designee
- 7. Two letters of recommendation from the medical school faculty, preferably one from each department.
Foreign Applicants
International medical graduates can contact the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates for their application materials and eligibility requirements.
Interviews
Interviews are scheduled from November through January except for holidays. Upon receipt of your ERAS application you will be informed if any additional information is needed. Invitations for interviews will be sent to applicants who have a reasonable chance of acceptance. Interviews are one-day and held on Mondays
