The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston is dedicated to improving the health and welfare of all infants, children, and adolescents.
Our mission is to spread and promote medical knowledge appropriate to the future of the field of pediatrics through a balanced emphasis on education, research, and health care. We seek to initiate the continuing educational process of medical students, residents, and established health care professionals who aspire to take a role in the prevention or cure of pediatric illness.
Through clinical, epidemiological, and basic research, we contribute to the advancement of medical knowledge and new forms of treatment while preparing others to pursue such investigation.
To model and inspire responsible clinical excellence among its students, the Pediatric Department will strive to provide exemplary and innovative clinical service for the children of Texas and the physicians who serve them. We endeavor to anticipate and adapt to changes in national health care policy and assume leadership to represent the optimal health care interests of children in our region.
